Text Match Cut / practical resources

Choose a text match cut aspect ratio

Match the effect to the shape of your destination timeline before exporting. This generator offers portrait 9:16, square 1:1 and landscape 16:9; changing the ratio changes the canvas, not the length of the clip.

9:161080 × 1920A vertical opener or cutaway in a portrait timeline.
1:11080 × 1080A square composition that needs equal width and height.
16:91920 × 1080A wide chapter break or explainer sequence.

For a portrait social edit, start with Vertical Hook. For a wide timeline, try Documentary Chapter. For square output, open either preset and select 1:1 before updating the preview.

Re-render instead of stretching

If you need another shape, change the ratio in the generator, select Update Animation, then export a new file. This redraws the paper composition for that canvas. Stretching a finished portrait clip into a landscape frame distorts the text; cropping can remove surrounding words or the intended paper context.

Changing a setting makes the previous preview stale. Check the updated preview before exporting. The creation guide explains that sequence.

Check framing in the final edit

  • Match the destination timeline ratio, rather than guessing from the app name.
  • View the word at the size your audience will see it.
  • Check captions, logos and platform controls against the focus word. A 9:16 canvas alone does not guarantee safe areas.
  • Decide whether an intentionally different ratio should be cropped or shown with borders in your editor.

Ratio and file format are different choices

Ratio describes the frame shape. For the rhythm within that frame, compare the 2, 4 and 8 cuts-per-second settings. MP4 or WebM describes the output file container, chosen by browser encoding support. Switching from portrait to landscape does not unlock MP4. Use the export checklist for format problems, or the CapCut guide when assembling the finished edit.
