Text Match Cut / practical resources
The newspaper clipping effect, explained
A newspaper-style text match cut keeps one word in a steady position while the surrounding paper layouts change. The visual anchor makes the sequence readable; the changing context creates the rhythm.

The visual recipe
One word. Changing context.
- Choose the word your viewer should remember.
- Keep that word as the focus while paper layouts switch.
- Adjust the cut speed until it feels readable at normal playback.

Three looks that are easy to confuse
- Text match cut
- A repeated word anchors a moving sequence. Changing layouts and timing are part of the effect.
- Magazine-letter collage
- Individual cutout letters form a word. That is a different composition; this generator does not assemble a ransom-note alphabet.
- An actual newspaper clipping
- A source document carries a publication, date and original context. A simulated paper layout is decorative and must not be presented as documentary evidence.
Make the word easier to read
Start with a short phrase and one clear focus word. In the generator, try four cuts per second first; use two for a calmer sequence or eight for a faster reveal. Changing the speed changes the layout-switching rhythm, while duration is a separate control.
Use the highlight control to emphasize the anchor, and adjust filler blur if the surrounding type competes with it. Watch the moving preview at phone size. A readable paused frame does not guarantee a readable animation.
Place it where the edit needs emphasis
Use a portrait clip before a short-form opening, or a landscape clip to introduce a new chapter. Keep it brief enough that the viewer reaches the main footage without losing the idea. Our aspect-ratio guide helps match the canvas to your edit.
The rendered clip has an opaque paper background. It is not a transparent text overlay or an editable timeline project. Add surrounding footage, narration and music in your editor.
